What is a Brow Lift?
A brow lift, often referred to as a forehead lift, is a procedure which restores the eyebrows to a youthful position, thus drastically reducing the appearance of wrinkles and frown lines. The operation is done by lifting and repositioning the forehead skin, during which time the muscles that cause frown lines are weakened. A brow lift is designed to raise the sagging brows thus promoting a more youthful and rested appearance.
Would I be a Candidate for a Brow Lift?
As we age our facial structure begins to settle and the skin begins to loose elasticity. This creates wrinkle lines that develop across the forehead as well as low hanging eyebrows which can hood the upper eye lids creating a tired look. If you are bothered by these signs of aging in the brow region, a brow lift may be right for you. Brow lifts can often be combined with an eyelid lift or face lift depending on the individual. During a consultation, Dr Zimmerman will discuss the procedure in depth and recommend the lift that is right for you.
What is recovery like?
During your brow lift recovery, your forehead may be taped and your head may be loosely wrapped to minimize swelling and bruising after the procedure is completed. Initial wound healing may take 10 to 14 days. No vigorous activity may be performed during the initial two week period. Sutures or clips will be removed when it is appropriate. You should be ready to return to work and normal activity after two weeks. Even though you will look presentable to the public, you will find that the healing will continue for several weeks, as the swelling dissipates and incision lines refine and fade. It may take several months for your complete recovery.
