Lip
augmentation, or lip enhancement surgery, has markedly progressed
over the past few years as more surgical options have become available.
Unfortunately, our lips are one area of our anatomy that continually
tends to decrease in size as we age. (Many of us wish that it was
preferably other areas of our body that were getting smaller instead).
The anatomy of our lips consists of the pink portion known as the
vermilion, and the border of our lips where the pink vermilion touches
normal skin known as the vermilion border. Increasing the "pouty"
appearance of the lip can be achieved with injection of Collagen,
Dermologen, or fat. While lasting for a period of three to six months,
these techniques are reasonably priced with minimal recovery time
to allow for immediate enjoyment of the new lip appearance.
For
a more permanent enhancement of the vermilion border, either Gore-Tex
or Soft-form implants can be inserted to achieve a "pouty"
lip with a natural feel. To restore fullness and contour to the
vermilion and border, and help resolve some of the wrinkles often
associated with age and smoking, an Alloderm implant can
be inserted. This creates a permanent enhancement of the entire
lip to achieve the desired fullness. Through small unseen incisions,
these techniques now enable one to restore, and enhance the fullness
and attractiveness to the lips.
