What is Laser Hair Removal?
Traditional forms of hair removal such as tweezing, waxing and electrolysis, are quickly being replaced by the use of newly developed lasers for this application. Lasers are proving to be more effective than other techniques with much less pain, and work in a fraction of the time.
The Zimmerman Center utilizes the state of the art Alexandrite Cynosure Apogee and Nd:Yag lasers for smaller areas of hair removal. In addition, the InMode Diolaze Laser is one of the fastest and most effective lasers for removing hair on larger areas such as the back and extremities. Women and men of nearly all skin types can be safely treated with laser removal which converts the light energy into heat when the laser strikes the hair bulb resulting in long term hair removal. Thus unwanted hair in areas such as the bikini line, facial hair, under arms, legs, etc., can now be safely, quickly, painlessly, and effectively removed in both men and women.
What Should I Know About Treatments?
Hair grows in cycles lasting about three to four months. The laser light applied to hair bearing areas can target hair bulbs of actively growing hairs. A second laser treatment will probably be necessary approximately six to eight weeks after the initial treatment in order to treat newly sprouting hairs within a different growth cycle. A total of three to five treatments depending on the area are usually required to destroy the active hair bulbs. While laser hair ablation cannot claim permanent hair removal because dormant hairs may begin growing, a reduction of at least 80% hair growth in the treated areas is expected after laser treatment.
